Fourth of July

We had a great 4th of July this year! We spent the day with all my extended family on my mother’s side, the illustrious Boones! Every three years they get together and have a week long family reunion known as Rendezvous (think mountain man more than french). We were only there for a single day, but it was so fun to see lots of cousins, cousins’ children, aunts and uncles, and even spend some great time with my siblings! I am so grateful for a fabulous family! And I’m so grateful to know they will be mine forever if I’m a good girl!

Anyway, here are some pictures from the past little bit.

Fay can’t always get Carter to play dress-up with her, but she succeeded one day this week. They were both rather dashing!

Here’s Portia and Helen matching a few weeks ago. The shorts are too big for Portia to actually wear without losing them, but it was still a fun picture.

Helen has been getting very excited about dangling toys recently. You can tell she is working really hard trying to grab them and get them to her mouth. But even with all her hard work, she will still take a break to smile at you if you talk to her!

Here is Fay after she successfully added every accessory to my lego set. We (Fay, Carter, and I) put it together a while ago and had it in storage mostly assembled; Fay took it upon herself to put it back together 100% and was very pleased afterword.

And last, but absolutely not least, here is my patriotic mantel for the summer! The mantel hasn’t been decorated at all since April 1st when the kids did it for Easter, and I haven’t personally decorated it since March! So it feels very good to have it look so lovely!

Josh and I made the flag out of wood scraps in the garage and leftover acrylic paint from other projects. I made the bunting banner from old sheet fabric. Mother gave me the stars from her 4th of July table decorations. I found the sign online and just printed it, and the straws and tassels came from the dollar section of Target. (Since I knew you all wanted to know all that.)

  1. HELEN’S SMILE IS SO CUTE!!! Also, I like hearing about how your mantel is put together! I love that you hand-make so much of it, and are so resourceful with the rest! You’re the coolest!
